  • For years now I have known about a place called Lady Bugs Kitty Rescue. They are located at 716 N. 79TH Avenue in Pensacola FL 32506.

I am sure this couple was well intended at the beginning but this is out of control and has been for many years.

Animal Control has received calls for years from concerned citizens and I know for a fact that there are records on Lady Bugs Kitty Rescue full of documents and complaints which show animal neglect and cruelty.

In the past (as she says) you have gone to her door and she REFUSED to let you in and you excepted this response for whatever reason.

I think because of the sheer number of animals you may be choosing to ignore this issue instead of facing it head on. There has to be 100 plus cats and a couple dogs on the property. All are very ill looking.

Common sense says and I have seen firsthand that it is impossible for two people to humanely take care of this amount of animals.

I don’t feel that charging these two people with felony animal cruelty will help this situation. I do feel strongly that all the animals should be removed and that court ordered mental health help, closing Lady Bugs Kitty Rescue and ordering her or her husband to never have another animal would not only benefit this couple but also hopefully stop anymore animals from suffering needlessly.

I feel that this is a community and state issue that needs immediate attention.

I hate to think of the animals from this property that will be put to sleep but that has got to be better then suffering every day.

I hope that by sending each of you this letter and bringing this to your attention that Lady Bugs Kitty Rescue will finally after so many years be no more.

I personally cannot bring myself to return to the property but letting the media know will allow others to get involved and help in many ways.

Description: A man was arrested Saturday after police found 300 cats packed in three freezers in his Sacramento home, the Sacramento Bee reports. When police entered the house of Michael Louis Vondueren, 47, which was littered with cat feces, they also found 30 cats that were still alive, according the the Bee. Vondueren, who was living in the house with his 81-year-old mother, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an automatic weapon and obstructing police officers. The cats were removed by animal control workers. -- Tony Barboza
