You know a lot of these animals that you see in the zoos have come from private owners. So the problem is not totally the zoos, it is the private sector. Those that participate in holding baby cubs and having their photos taken at special events are those that are feeding into this industry. If we as people don't pay for photos and don't attend functions that have these magnificent animals there for exploitation, they would stop being breed and dumped when they are too large to be with the public or in private homes. So the next time you see or hear of a photo taking booth with an exotic animal in it walk by, don't give them your money, or try to educate those in line about what will happen to this cute little cub or baby chimp or whatever type of exotic it is. We can't complain about the organizations if we ourselves feed into the industry on the lowest level, the beginning stages of the abuse. With out our interest in photos and holding and petting these animals they would have no business, no breeding and no dumping. Just say "I love them enough not to touch them!"
